In one of the shadiest parts of our garden, we have two rather odd but rather lovely plants growing. These are the ‘Bleeding heart’ plant, or to give it its proper latin name – Lamprocapnos spectabilis.
I love this plants’ heart shaped flowers with little droplets attached to them! I have also just looked them up on Wikipedia and I have to say I love the other names for them: Venus’ car, Dutchmans’ trousers and Lady in a Bath!!! Very imaginative!
These plants do extremely well in shade and as long as you keep the slugs away from them, will root very quickly and become established and strong.
A little tip from Gardeners’ World too – they seem to thrive when planted near to Hostas. I love these funny little flowers!
